The details for the winter competitions have been sent out to the players and team contacts. The draw for the Winter Foursomes Knockout Competition and the table for the Winter League are now available on the website.

The matches start on 1st October.

Having won the BB&O Junior County League, the Bucks girls went on to win the Midlands South Region Scratch Team matchplay final.  The girls had a very convincing win against Warwickshire in the final, played on Sunday 8th September at Cherwell Edge Golf Club, near Banbury, Oxfordshire.

The Bucks girls have had an amazingly successful summer and should be congratulated on their hard work and dedication to the game. The results of their many competitions can be found via the "Junior Fixtures" page.

Many girls have significantly reduced their handicaps this year.  Charlotte West (Harewood Downs) is now down to scratch, Luan Skeates (The Buckinghamshire) 2, Alice Kozlowski (Ellesborough) 3, Shamiso Hatchard (Woburn) 4, Megan Dennis (Woburn) and Beth Scott (Stoke Park) 5.  Lucy Matthews from Ellesborough and Thalia Kirby from Stoke Park both came down from 17 to 12 this year and little Daisy Kennedy who is 11 years old is down to 17 from 29.

The BCLGA are delighted to announce that Alice Kozlowski (Ellesborough) has been appointed the Junior Captain for 2014.

Through the summer months three course records have been broken:

-  In the Midlands South Region Womens' Championships on Monday, 15th July Charlotte West broke the course record at Calcot Park, Berkshire with a stunning score of 65.  Charlotte went on to win the 36 hole strokeplay Championship.

-  Two girls have broken their home course records this Summer:-                   Charlotte West at Harewood Downs with a 66                   Alice Kozlowski at Ellesborough with a 68
Congratulations to both girls!

Well done to Stoke Park on winning the Bucks Shield for 2013.

The Finals' Day was held on Monday 3rd September on a very warm and sunny day at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club. In closely fought semi-finals, Stoke Park beat Ellesborough and Hazlemere beat Harleyford.

The team from Stoke Park who earlier in the year had knocked out Woburn, the holders of the trophy for the last four years, then beat Hazlemere in the afternoon final - they last held the coveted Shield in 1983.

All the games were played in great spirit. Hazlemere were delighted to have reached the final and were very gracious in defeat.  The young team from Stoke Park are to be commended on the way the girls conducted themselves both on and off the course.

The full results of the Bucks Shield matches can be found in the "Competitions - Knockouts" section.

Congratulations to Gemma Dryburgh (Beaconsfield) on her performance at the Ladies British Open Amateur Strokeplay held at Prestwick Golf Club from 21st to 23rd August. Gemma finished runner-up to Jing Yan, the 17-year-old Singapore based Chinese prodigy from China who had won the British Under 18 title at Fairhaven Golf Club only seven days prior to this event.

After 54 holes the 20-year-old Scot, Gemma shared the lead with Jing Yan at nine-under-par 213, five shots clear of the field.  However, Jing Yan covered the outward half of her last round in four-under-par 34 to Gemma's 37 to lead by three shots.  In the final analysis, it was a closer finish between Jing Yan and Dryburgh than the final totals might suggest.  With three holes to play, the Aberdeen-born student at Tulane University, New Orleans (twice a winner on the US college circuit but not released by her university to play for Scotland in next month's Women's Home Internationals) was only one shot behind Jing Yan.

The Chinese teenager finished birdie-par-birdie to Gemma's par-birdie-par, thus doubling her winning margin to two shots with a 14 under par total of 282 against the Gemma's 12-under 284.  In her closing 69 - five under par - Jing Yan had an eagle 3 at the eighth and birdies at the first, third, seventh, 16th and 18th to take the Nicolls Trophy as the overall champion, and the Dinwiddy Trophy for the best performance by a player under 18 years.

Gemma, whose outstanding effort earned her the Holden trophy for second lowest score for 72 holes, plus the Duncan Salver for the best performance by an Under-23 years player, had birdies at the fifth, sixth, eighth,12th and 17th. She bogeyed only the fourth and ninth.

Gemma has now returned to Tullane and the BCLGA wishes her the very best of luck for the forthcoming university year.

The BCLGA wish all the teams the best of luck in their matches.

Sadly, due to lack of entries at the closing date, the Lady/Junior competition due to be held at Burnham Beeches on Friday 23 August has been cancelled.

The English Women's Stroke Play Championships were held on 6th - 8th August at Mannings Heath Golf Club. There were 85 entrants in this 72 hole event.

Well done to Charlotte West (Harewood Downs) who opened with a 1 over par 73 and easily made the cut for final two rounds.  With scores of 73, 77, 78, 78 Charlotte finished on +18 to take 23rd place.

The leading scores were:

Very well done to Charlotte West from Harewood Downs who won the Midlands South Regional Women's Championships on Monday 15th July.  Held at Calcot Park Golf Club, the event is a 36 hole strokeplay competition.

Charlotte scored a gross 72 in the morning and this was followed by an amazing round of 65 in the afternoon. Her round consisted of 7 birdies and 11 pars, breaking the ladies course record at Calcot Park, which previously stood at 69.

Charlotte together with Alice Kozlowski (Ellesborough) and Charlotte Nutt (Beaconsfield) were the three players nominated to represent Bucks in the County Shield, which is awarded to the team with the lowest aggregate scratch scores returned over the 36 holes. Well done to the three girls for winning the Shield for Bucks.

Alice's first round score of 74 (nett 69) won her the prize for the best am nett score.

The full results will be posted when available.

The Summer Meeting was hosted by Beaconsfield, the home club of County Captain, Karen Platt on Wednesday 3rd July.  The event was a 3 Ball Alliance and 26 teams of three played from 15 clubs.  It was supposed to have been sunny but in fact was quite cold when the ladies started, but as the afternoon went on the sun did decide to put in an appearance.

The team of Val Smith, Julie Clarke and Lindsey Parker (last year's runners-up) from Woburn won the event with 79 points.  Second prize went to the Lambourne team of Claire Geneen, Lorraine Matthews and Shona Milne with a score of 78 points.

We are very grateful to the Lady Members of Beaconsfield along with Janet, Carol and Sally who made delicious cakes and tray bakes for our half way houses.  These were enjoyed by all - several ladies just had to try more than one cake to check for quality,  ...which as expected was second to none.

The prize table reflected the season with a 'Tea at Wimbledon' theme, complete with Strawberries. David Jennings and his staff provided us with a delicious late lunch and the staff at Beaonsfield looked after us all extremely well.

The full results list and photos will be available shortly.

Friday started off well for the Bucks team, winning two of the three morning foursomes matches against Berkshire. Five of the afternoon singles however went in favour of the oposition and so Bekshire won the match by 6½ - 2½.

The other last day match results were:- Warwickshire beat Oxfordshire 5½ - 3½ and Worcester & Hereford beat Northants by 6 - 3.

The overall winners were Warwickshire who finished the week with a clean slate having beaten all five other counties.  Berkshire beat Worcester & Hereford on countback to take the runners-up slot. Warwickshire will now represent the Midlands South Region in the Regional Finals in Cheshire in September.

Well done to all the Bucks team for their good team spirit.  The results were not as they would have wished, but they all played well and fought hard in each of their matches.  The week ended on a very happy note with the announcement that Alice Kozlowski and Charlotte West will be awarded their County Colours at the Annual General Meeting in October.

On the fourth day of County Week Bucks had a close match against Oxfordshire.  All the morning foursomes went to the opposition but the Bucks team rallied well to take 4 of the 6 singles matches - not quite enough to win the overall match, Oxfordshire winning 5 - 4.

In Thursday's other two matches Warwickshire beat Worcestershire & Hereford 7 - 2 and Berkshire beat Northants by the same margin.

Warwickshire have now won all four of their matches to date and as such they cannot be beaten. Tomorrow they will take the trophy as the Midlands South Region County Week winners, a trophy they previously won in 2009 when they hosted the event at Ladbrook Park.

For all the results and info for County Week, go to the "County Week 2013" section.

The opponents for Bucks on Wednesday at County Week were the in-form team from Warwickshire.  The  morning foursomes were halved but Warwicks came into their own in the afternoon to take the singles by four matches to two, to win the match by 5½ - 3½.

In the other two matches:

-  Oxfordshire beat Northants, 7½ - 1½

-  Berkshire and Worcestershire halved their match, 4½ - 4½

With two more days to go, Warwickshire are the only team not to have been beaten.  For the full results of all the matches, go to the "County Week 2013" section.

Below is the text of the report on the England Golf website, posted 26th April:-

Woburn pair win Mothers and Daughters

Winners of the Mothers and Daughters
Mothers and Daughters Winners - Glenna & Harriet Beasley

Woburn’s Glenna and Harriet Beasley made the most of perfect conditions to triumph in the Mothers and Daughters at Royal Mid Surrey on Saturday.

It was the third win for Glenna over four decades, but this time she made the transition from winning daughter to winning mother, because her previous victories had been with her mother, Lady Angela Bonallack in 1979 and 2000.

Indeed, Angela still played an important part in Glenna and Harriet’s victory as she flew down from Scotland to pair up with her other daughter, Sara Stocks, to be their playing partners making up a family foursome.

However, it was no easy win for the Beasleys , as they only secured the title by a single shot from the Gillian and Sarah Attwood, from Gog Magog, finishing on an aggregate score of 114, 8-over-par, over the 27 holes medal.

Despite playing some wonderful golf, both pairs felt they squandered chances and succumbed to the pressure at times. Indeed the Beasleys were feeling very contented with their morning round until they found a bunker on final hole, took three attempts to get the ball out and ended up with a double bogey seven.

Sarah Atwood, a plus one handicap with ambitions to turn professional, admitted she and her mother just started too slowly. After dropping six shots over the front nine, they finally discovered their form, dropping only two on the back nine, to finish one shot behind the Beasleys on 79 after the morning round.

At that stage the contest was wide open, as the leaders after eighteen holes were 2003 winners, Ann Laughland and Rosie Jenner from Rye, who have competed the event for over thirty years. At the other end of the golfing spectrum, 13-year-old Martha Lewis from St George’s Hill was wowing the spectators, playing with her mother Evelyn, with a brilliant morning round of 79 and Martha was deservedly awarded the Meg Kent Cup, for the best U16 player.

As the wind picked up in the afternoon for the remaining nine holes, the Beasleys and the Attwoods raised their games and the chances of the other contenders fell away.

Leading scratch scores
Glenna Beasley (Woburn) & Harriet Beasley (Woburn) 114 (78&36)
Gillian Attwood (Gog Magog) & Sarah Attwood (Gog Magog) 115 (79&36)
Louella Hitchcock (Chigwell ) & Lorna Hitchcock (Hylands) 121 (78&43)
Alison Taylor (Walton Heath) & Katie Taylor (Walton Heath) 122 (82&40)
